What are monitored alarms?
A monitored alarm connects to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) which is a remote central station manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, via your telephone line. For instance, if the alarm system detects any intrusion, it will immediately send an intruder signal to the ARC via the phone line or mobile GSM. Within seconds, the ARC will verify the alarm signal and decide the appropriate course of action to alert you or one or more of your nominated key holders and if necessary alert the Police via an agreed communication channel.
What happens to my alarm monitoring if my phone line is cut?
Alarm monitoring of your premises requires an active phone line. The risk of a vulnerable phone line can be overcome by adopting a dual signaling method such as Redcare or Emizon, which uses the GPRS network if the landline fails.
Would my wireless internet interfere with the wireless alarm?
Your wireless alarm will utilise a dedicated 868 MHz narrowband radio channel which is exclusive for the security industry and as such is unlikely to receive interference from your wireless internet connection. However, we always fit an ASDL filter when the alarm is monitored or has a speech dialer fitted.
What are keyholders?
Keyholders are people who you trust to enter your property if your alarm is activated. Keyholders are used when we cannot contact you directly.
